Texas Republicans campaign for dead candidate

Glenda Dawson, a Republican, was probably a nice person. Hailing from Pearland, she represented the 29th District in the State of Texas in the state legislature.

She decided to run for another term in this November's elections. In the decidedly Republican district she actually stands a good chance of being re-elected.

The only problem is, she died in September.

That hasn't stopped her campaign though!

A slick new campaign mailer shows a smiling Texas state representative and reminds voters of her many notable achievements in education, economics and politics.

The ad doesn't say Republican Glenda Dawson died in September. Dawson's campaign still continues. Campaign officials hope she will win re-election for a two-year term over the Democratic challenger. If she wins - likely in the heavily Republican district - Gov. Rick Perry will call a special election to fill the vacancy.
Tempted though I may be, I'm not going to say it.

It does kind of stand this political anomaly on its head though.
