A stage full of Pinochets

The Republican candidates vying to take over the position of the current Vacationer-In-Chief engaged in an orgy of verbal bluster in an attempt to demonstrate to their semi-literate base which one of them was the most bloodthirsty. As Digby points out:
John McCain is the only adult on that stage and that scares the living hell out of me considering that he's half nuts too.

The video, if you care to actually watch a display of over-aged, junior-high males running open on testosterone without actually pulling out anything to see, is at Crooks & Liars. Not one of them turned Hume's hypothetical bullshit back onto him, although McCain at least went on record in describing the 24 episode scenario as a "million-to-one" possibility. The others just pretended they were Jack Bauer absent of the knowledge that he's a fictional character portrayed by someone who rejects their view.

Canadian Cynic makes a connection which shouldn't be too hard for anybody to understand, but judging from the performance of the Republican candidates in last night's debate, they seem to have missed it. Given the position of Guiliani, Tancredo and Romney, not to mention Bush and Cheney, the US will be lucky to get those three missing soldiers back without holes drilled in their skulls.
