"What if they don't leave?"

Baba: Will you watch over the house for me? We'll be back when the Russian's leave.

Rahim Khan: What if they don't leave?

Baba: Everyone leaves. This country's not kind to invaders.

Given the discussion in a couple of earlier posts I thought the passage above might be of interest to some. The Kite Runner is a novel by Khaled Hosseini and was successfully adapted into an award winning motion picture. Written by an Afghani, it provides a glimpse into an Afghanistan that was - prior to the Soviet invasion.
