British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says he will tender his resignation to the Queen immediately, given that the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are near a deal on forming a coalition government. Earlier, Brown had suggested he would stay on until September.
"My constitutional duty is to make sure that a government can be formed," he said. "I've informed the Queen's private secretary that it's my intention to tender my resignation to the Queen. In the event that the Queen accepts, I invite her to invite the leader of the opposition to form a government."
Grace and decorum in the motherland. Histrionics in the former colony.
It's humiliating.
It's humiliating.
